Read Deuteronomy 30: 1-10: The book of Deuteronomy is Moses’ farewell sermon to the people of Israel as they prepare to cross into the Promised Land, but Moses will not be going with them. The whole book is a reminder of the law God gave and an impassioned plea for the people to remain faithful to God, to recommit themselves to the Lord.

While Moses is pleading for faithfulness, he also recognises that no matter how hard the people try, no matter how earnest they are in following God – they will always end up betraying God in one way or another. This is why Moses said this in Deuteronomy 30:6:

This week make the focus of your prayers a commitment of faithfulness to God but do so knowing that although our natural inclination is always to turn away from God, in coming to God through Christ God does an incredible work in our hearts making us capable of loving him. Why not read Deuteronomy 30:6 every day this week, commit it to memory as every day you submit all of your life to the Lord.
