We will take the next 40 days to discover the promises of the gospel given through the some of the Old Testament prophets. Take time to pray before you read, why not get a notebook and journal your thoughts and what God might be saying to you. Ask what changes the passage demands of us in terms of our relationship with God and one another. Here are some key questions you might want to answer in your journal.

  • What does this passage teach me about God’s character and nature
  • What does this passage teach me about humanity and myself
  • What is God revealing about his presence and work in my life right now

Let’s Pray

In September we held our back to church initiative. Since then we have seen a number of new people coming regularly on a Sunday morning. Give thanks to God for how he has answered our prayers for this. Thank God for the new folks who have been coming and pray that they will very quickly feel part of our family.

Richard Gregg and Stuart continue to prayer walk around Portstewart once a week. This means that for a couple of hours a week they simply walk around the town stopping in key places to pray for the people who live and work in those areas, for the local churches and businesses in the town. Most weeks they meet at least one person who they get to pray with and share something about faith in Jesus with. Pray for Richard and Stuart as they go out this week.

Pray for the Presbyterian Church in Ireland as they navigate this crisis and work to minister to those who have been hurt or let down by the church and try to rebuild confidence with the general public. Pray that in all things God will be honoured. Pray especially for David Allen who is the Acting Clerk of the Assembly and for Richard Murray who is having to take up the role of Moderator again.
